The US’s BLS has just released their 1st estimate of their annual benchmark revisions to their NFP employment stats – i.e. a better estimate of what job creation actually was in the 12 months up to March 2024. The estimated revision is -818k jobs. That is 818,000 less jobs created over the year to March 2024. For perspective see the chart below of those annual revisions. This is the biggest (-0.5% of total nonfarm employment) since 2009.
