The Longview Economics team consists of economists and quants with specialists in global macro, economic history, quantitative models and commodities. We deliver rigorous market analysis, take pride in simplifying complex macro trends and delivering lucid trading and investment advice.
Role Summary - The successful candidate will be responsible for producing research publications (& investment recommendations) that primarily cover: i) The cyclical and structural state of the major parts of the global economy (& key commodities); but also touch on ii) the outlook for key asset classes (on different time frames), as well as; iii) responding to significant world events. As an independent consultancy, we are free to say it as we see it. To be a good fit for our team, we expect a demonstrable passion for financial markets, a written research portfolio, strong mathematical skills and an understanding of historic economic cycles and theories.
Responsibilities
- Analysis of bespoke models
- Publishing regular research
- Interaction with the external investing client base
- Overseeing/training junior analysts
- Speaking as required at events/forums/webinars
- Responding to ad hoc requests from external clients and senior management
Minimum eligibility criteria - Experience & Skills Required
- 5-15 years of demonstrable and relevant written research experience
- Strong knowledge of global economic history and theory
- Thorough understanding of Global financial markets
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to collaborate
- Robust compliance track record
- FCA registration required (must be obtained within first six months of employment)
- CFA or equivalent qualification
- Permission to live and work in the UK

What does an intern do at Longview? We punch above our weight at Longview because we are all willing to pivot, deep dive, and go where and when the market leads. We need you to come with an attitude to help the team wherever you can and use your strengths to enhance what we do.
- Run Longview’s bespoke Econometric/Mathematical models each morning
- Put together content/agenda for internal morning meeting
- Contribute to/produce economic news flow reports eg ‘State of Markets’, ‘Market positioning.’
- Ad-Hoc research projects (e.g. investigating house prices; analysis of upcoming elections)
- Assist with production of marketing content eg blogs/tweets/socials
- Assist with the upkeep/development/analysis of the Longview database (on Hubspot)
- Help senior strategists reach investment professionals across the globe/in strategic financial centres and help set up meetings/organise business travel.

Longview is a small independent economics consultancy. This means we are free to write objective research without bias as we are not influenced by the interests of large financial institutions. Our global client base includes large asset managers as well as private banks/pension funds and small family offices. They are based across multiple time zones (including Australia/Asia/USA/Canada/Eurozone).

What will I achieve as an intern at Longview? If you are an ambitious graduate with an interest in financial markets and a background in maths/sciences/economics, an internship at Longview will provide you with an excellent introduction to a career in financial markets.
- You will be paid a salary of £28,000 per annum plus training package circa £5,000 per annum
- You will be given 20 days annual leave and 7 days study leave
- You will be enrolled onto the CFA Level 1 course which you will be expected to sit in June or November 2025. The CFA Level 1 exam is the first of three exams offered by the CFA Institute as part of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification program. It is designed to test a candidate's knowledge and comprehension of foundational concepts in finance and investment. Longview will cover training expenses such as learning materials and revision courses.
- You will be added to the Longview pension scheme
- You will be expected to work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (6.30am to 3.30pm with an hour for lunch)

Start date: 2H 2025 (12-month fixed contract)
